BARGE SERVICES
Vehicles and Passengers
Palm Island Barge Company provides a daily return vehicle and passenger barge service from Lucinda to Palm Island Monday to Friday. Drivers travel free with the vehicle, and passengers travelling in the vehicles are required to pay the same fare as walk-on ticketed passengers.
Our Company Policy requires all passengers travelling on the barges to listen or observe the notices on the lower deck to the Safety Brief prior to departure and to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
Alcohol Restrictions apply on Palm Island. Passengers are only allowed one (1) carton of light beer per ticketed passenger. One carton of light beer is allowed per vehicle, regardless of the number of passengers travelling. Please note that beer must be in cans, not glass stubbies.
Barge Charter Services
Palm Island Barge Company provides Barge Charter Services for contractor needing to transport trucks or heavy machineries, bulk freight, building materials and others.
These services have the flexible departure, cost effective logistics and waiting times to offer to contractors.
Waiting time is subject to an hourly Demurrage Rate. For enquiries, please contact our office.
Building Materials
Palm Island Barge Company provides a daily barge service to transport building materials from Lucinda to Palm Island Monday to Friday. Building materials can be delivered to our Lucinda depot.
We have the capacity and resources to increase barge services to Palm Island to support the delivery of the large volumes building materials including demountable buildings. When required, we can operate on a 24-hour schedule, with the flexibility to complete up to three trips per barge with in 24-hour period to ensure delivery timelines are met efficiently.
Road Freight Townsville – Lucinda
Palm Island Barge Company provides road transport for general freight and cold goods from Townsville to Lucinda. Freight should be palletised. For oversized freight please contact our office.
Palm Island Barge Company has a depot in Townsville at 387 Bayswater Road, Garbutt Qld 4814, which accepts dry goods and general freight deliveries Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 1.00pm. All freight is shipped the next day to Palm Island. Pick-ups and delivery is available, please contact our office.
